Learning Disability Health event success!

This week Healthwatch held a collaborative event with College Health, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (TLS) and Thurrock Centre for Independent Living (TCIL).

The event was open to all living with a learning disability, their carers and professionals. It was a great turn out of over 200 people, who had great fun taking part in lots of activities including the Smoothie bike, Giant floor games, Zumba, Strollercise and more.

There was also a 'Carers corner' on the day where carers could access mini health checks, information and support whilst having a cuppa and cake.

During the event, as a result of access to health support, some attendees were identified on the day as having Diabetes and high blood pressure. A  pharmacist was also on site to signpost attendees that had missed their spring booster for COVID to a service still operating.
 
A fantastic day of singing, dancing, eating and information sharing about looking after yourself was enjoyed by all!
