People with long-term conditions now account for over 50% of all GP appointments, 64% of all outpatient appointments and over 70% of all all inpatient bed days.
Summary
Healthwatch Thurrock were asked to conduct an engagement exercise to explore the views and opinions or people with Long-Term Conditions, how they are supported and their experiences.
Key findings
- 75% of people surveyed found that their referral to a service was easy following their diagnosis
- 75% of people surveyed felt there was nothing that could have prevented the development of their long-term condition
- 91% of people surveyed confirmed they understood and were taking their medication correctly
